About Me & Cats

My happy days consist of cat sitting, volunteering at an animal shelter, and helping cat owners with their cats’ behaviors. I never imagined myself feeling this much happiness living and working with cats until I got my first cat.

In fact, I was afraid of cats when I was growing up. I was bitten by a dog in my childhood. All we had as our family pet was an orange canary bird who managed to fly away to freedom one day (I don’t blame her…).

When my husband and I adopted Tora (“tiger” in Japanese) from the Humane Society, I fell in love with him. I was mesmerized by his pure intention – everything from eating, playing, hunting, and sleeping. He is always 100% into what he’s doing.

Four years later, we adopted our second cat, Mimi (“ear” in Japanese). When she was about 8 months old, she gradually became chubby; then really big, well, almost obese. She was about 13.5 lbs. She couldn’t run, she couldn’t jump, and she couldn’t lick her back or legs. When she tried to run, I saw her belly moving side to side. It was painful to see. I had to do something about it.

After very intense research on feline diet, I decided to switch both cats’ food from dry kibbles to raw meat mixes. Wow, the result was remarkable! Mimi lost about 4 lbs. over several months. She became slim and fit. Now, she is our family’s official backyard hunter/protector.

What is a balanced life like for our precious cats? I am on a mission to find answers to that question for every cat I interact with. Each cat is different and unique. I want them to be happy and content with their lives shared with humans.

I believe everything I do is to improve cats’ well-being, so that cats and their owners will share happy lives together.
